DO NOT USE JOYTOKEY for any analog axis mapping! Roll, pitch, yaw, throttle, etc should all be done inside the game. In IL2 proper, you want to use your joystick to map axes directly in game. This is one of those things where you need to get a feel for things. Recognize right now that what works for YOU will likely be different than any other person. It took me a while to figure out what worked best for me and my setup after I made the switch to flying with complex engine management. Once you are familiar enough with the game, don't be afraid to remove key mappings. Here are some general pointers for using it in conjunction with IL2 1946. I fly with JoyToKey as well, it's a wonderful tool but should be used in a limited fashion.

Thanks for any help you guys can give me!Ĭonfession: I'm "that guy". I'm pretty new to the game, so I'm unsure of what controls are more valuable to have. I am here asking if someone has a list of the button numbers in the program to their corresponding controller input, or an already made file or image of a recommended IL-2 controller setup. Looking at the program I can see that it has an option for multiple sets of axis, and I'm guessing that I need to map the D-pad, left stick and possibly triggers using these additional axis. Specifically the D-pad, right and left triggers, and righthand analog stick. My issue is that several buttons are not responding with their key when I map them (they just come up blank). I looked at some things online and found the joytokey program which maps keys to buttons on an xbox controller. Off course, not every user will have every component mentioned above, and the quality of the individual flight simulating experience remains as high as the home user's investment.Hello, I grabbed IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 at the recommendation of my brother during the Steam Summer Sale and it looks like a really cool game! Sadly, I don't have a stick/throttle so instead I would like to play the game with a controller.
